Description

The Tegkor/Nelson Mandela University Bursary for the year 2025 is aimed at South African students pursuing various Accounting qualifications at the undergraduate and postgraduate levels. The bursary is provided by Nelson Mandela University, which originated in 2005 and has now evolved into a significant educational institution with multiple faculties and a diverse range of study programs. The university seeks to support students, especially those demonstrating financial need, defined under the category of the 'missing middle' with an annual household income between R350,000 and R600,000. To be eligible, first-year applicants must hold South African citizenship, have completed Matric with commendable academic performance, specifically achieving a minimum of 80% in Mathematics or an Applicant Score above 420. These students must also be enrolled full-time at NMU for BCom Accounting or BCom Accounting Sciences. For second and third-year students, the eligibility criteria extend to full-time enrollment in respective accounting programs along with a requisite average of 70% or above in previous academic modules and a proven contribution to community service. Postgraduate applicants must show dedication to their field with strong academic performance leading into their advanced studies. The bursary provides funding variably according to the study year: first-year students are allocated up to R12,500, while those in the second and third year, as well as postgraduate students, are granted up to R7,500. Applicants must compile a comprehensive application that includes several supporting documents, such as proof of income and transcripts, ensuring all required paperwork is submitted accurately to avoid disqualification. Applications are to be made online by the closing date of 14 March 2025; late submissions will not be considered. For further assistance, potential applicants can reach out to the bursary contact via phone or email.
