Provided by:South African Actuaries Development Programme (SAADP)
Description
The South African Actuaries Development Programme (SAADP) is inviting applications for its bursary programme for the academic year 2026. The SAADP was established in 2003 as a non-profit organization to address the shortage of black actuarial skills in South Africa. It has successfully produced over 200 graduates in Actuarial Science, receiving funding from various sponsors including First Rand Foundation and Deloitte. The bursary is available for students pursuing Actuarial Science and related qualifications at partner universities such as the University of Cape Town (UCT), University of Pretoria (UP), and University of the Witwatersrand (WITS). Bursaries are renewable based on academic performance and financial need. Successful candidates will benefit from a comprehensive support package that includes financial assistance for tuition and textbooks, living allowances, psychosocial support through mentorship programs, life skills training, and academic support in the form of tutorials and workshops. The application process involves a pre-screening followed by shortlisting and interviews, ensuring that only the most suitable candidates are selected. Eligibility criteria specify that applicants must be South African citizens, either currently in Matric or studying at a university, with a strong academic performance and a genuine passion for the actuarial profession. Required documentation includes proof of identity, academic records, an acceptance letter from an accredited university, and essays detailing the applicant's motivations for pursuing a career in actuarial science. Interested students must submit their applications via email by the closing date of 31 August 2025.
