Description
The South African Journal on Human Rights (SAJHR) offers a prestigious bursary aimed at postgraduate students pursuing an LLM degree focused on constitutional, human rights, or justice-related issues at any public university in South Africa. Established by the Centre for Applied Legal Studies (CALS) in 1985 and recognized as one of the leading public law journals in the country, the SAJHR is committed to fostering scholarship in these critical areas of law. The bursary available for the 2025 academic year is a top-up bursary offering financial assistance up to R30,000. It's designed to support students who exhibit financial need and have demonstrated strong academic achievements, as evidenced by a minimum 65% average in their prior LLB studies. Eligible candidates must be either Black South Africans or permanent residents, and it's preferable that they have recently completed their LLB at select universities. Successful applicants will be notified around May 30, 2025.
