SAICA Thuthuka Bursary
Provided by:South African Institute of Chartered Accountants (SAICA)
Description
The SAICA Thuthuka Bursary is designed to provide financial assistance to disadvantaged African and Coloured students who aspire to become Chartered Accountants (CAs). Initiated by the South African Institute of Chartered Accountants (SAICA), this bursary aims to reduce the barriers faced by these students, thereby promoting a diverse accounting profession. The Thuthuka Bursary Fund supports students enrolled in selected universities across South Africa, offering financial coverage for various educational expenses. These include tuition fees, books, accommodation, and meals ensuring students are well-supported during their studies. The programme also emphasizes on holistic development through additional academic support, mentoring from experienced professionals, and training in life skills and work readiness. The Thuthuka Bursary will not cover existing loans or debts, ensuring that the funding is used exclusively to accomplish educational goals. Eligible applicants must be South African citizens, from disadvantaged backgrounds, and meet specific academic requirements including a minimum score in Mathematics. To apply, students need to fill an online application, provide necessary documentation, and indicate how they learned about the bursary. The closing date for applications is 31 August 2025, encouraging interested candidates to apply early to avoid disappointment. For queries, applicants can contact SAICA directly. This initiative is a beacon of hope for aspiring accountants looking to break into the field with the right support and resources.
