Description

The SAAFoST Brian Koeppen Memorial Scholarship is an esteemed opportunity provided by the South African Association for Food Science and Technology (SAAFoST) Foundation. This scholarship honors Professor B H Koeppen, a pivotal figure in the field of Food Science, offering financial support to deserving postgraduate students pursuing studies in the realms of Food Science and Food Technology. The SAAFoST Foundation, a non-profit comprised of around 2000 members across Southern Africa, aims to advance the knowledge of food science through various educational initiatives. For the 2026 academic year, two scholarships will be awarded, one for a Master’s degree and another for a Doctorate degree, each valued at R35,000 per annum. The scholarships will assist with tuition fees but can also fund various academic expenses for candidates already receiving other financial support. To be eligible, applicants must be South African citizens or permanent residents with at least one year of SAAFoST membership and must be enrolled at approved institutions such as Stellenbosch University or the University of Pretoria. Applications must be submitted by the educational institutions, and candidates are encouraged to coordinate with their Department Heads for nominations.
