Description
The South African Association of Botanists (SAAB) is offering scholarships for the 2025 academic year aimed at students pursuing postgraduate studies in Botany and related fields. This scholarship is open to students enrolled in recognised South African tertiary institutions, who meet the specified eligibility criteria. Three bursaries worth R15,000 each are available for Honours or 4th year studies, and three MSc scholarships worth R50,000 each will be awarded, distributed as R25,000 in each of the two years of study contingent on satisfactory academic performance. Successful candidates will also receive complimentary memberships to SAAB. The application process includes submitting a fully completed online application form along with critical documentation; guidelines for submissions are provided by SAAB. The application deadlines are set for 28 February 2025 for Masters students and 31 March 2025 for Honours students. Queries about the scholarship can be directed to the SAAB’s contact emails.

Eligibility Requirements
- Must be a resident in one of the SADC countries
- Must be studying towards a postgraduate qualification in Botany or related field
- Must have graduated with a minimum overall average of 70%
- Must be studying at a recognised tertiary institution in South Africa
- Must have a supervisor who is a paid-up member of SAAB
- For MSc: Must have a BSc Honours degree with a minimum average of 70% and in the first year of MSc study
