Description
The Mining Qualifications Authority (MQA) invites students for the 2026 academic year to apply for bursaries in the Mining and Minerals sector. The MQA, established under the Mine Health and Safety Act, focuses on transformation within the mining sector through skills development. They are offering two types of bursaries: Unemployed Bursaries (430 available) and Employed Bursaries (70 available) covering various fields of study at Universities, Universities of Technology, and TVET Colleges. The fields eligible for the bursaries include Analytical Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, and various other engineering disciplines as well as vocational training courses. The bursary provides comprehensive financial support, covering tuition fees, accommodation, books, and meals for unemployed students, while employed students only receive tuition and book allowances. Preference is given to historically disadvantaged individuals, women, and students with disabilities. Applicants must meet strict eligibility criteria, including South African citizenship, academic qualifications, financial need, and study intent at recognized institutions. Applications must be submitted by July 31, 2025, with detailed supporting documentation to ensure consideration. Successful candidates will be notified by October 1, 2025.
