Description

The Matriculant of the Year Bursary Competition, organized by the University of the Free State (UFS) in collaboration with Media24, invites high-achieving students in South Africa who are currently in their Matric year to apply for the 2026 academic year. This prestigious competition has been running for over 40 years, providing an opportunity for Matriculants who excel in academics, sports, culture, or leadership to win valuable bursaries, prizes, and other opportunities for their higher education. Eligible applicants must be in Matric in 2025 and show exceptional potential in their respective fields, intending to study full-time at UFS in 2026. The selection process involves identifying semi-finalists based on their applications, conducting interviews for finalists, and ultimately announcing the Matriculant of the Year during a gala dinner. To apply, candidates must complete the application form, download it from the provided link, and submit it along with required documents, either by email or in person. The deadline for applications is 1 August 2025, and any late submissions will not be considered. Queries can be directed to Linda Greyling at UFS.
