Description

The Mandela Rhodes Foundation offers a prestigious scholarship aimed at empowering young African leaders by providing funding for postgraduate studies in South Africa. This scholarship supports students pursuing Honours or Masters degrees in any field at selected institutions across the country. Over the past 16 years, the foundation has funded more than 500 students from 28 African countries, fostering exceptional leadership abilities among recipients. The scholarship covers essential study-related expenses, including registration and tuition fees, accommodation, meal allowances, and even economy flights for scholars coming from outside South Africa. Alongside financial support, recipients are also engaged in a comprehensive Leadership Development Programme aimed at enhancing their leadership skills through workshops and mentoring opportunities. To be eligible, applicants must be African citizens aged between 19 and 29, have completed or be on track to complete an undergraduate degree by January 2026, and must secure admission to one of the approved South African institutions of higher learning. Ideal candidates are expected to demonstrate strong leadership skills, a commitment to ethical governance, and a passion for making a positive impact in their communities. The selection process is rigorous and occurs over several phases, with applications opening on March 17, 2025 and closing on April 21, 2025. Interested individuals are encouraged to prepare their applications in advance and ensure they meet all requirements. For application details and further information, candidates should visit the scholarship's official website as well as regularly check updates to maximize their chances of success.
