Description
The Industrial Development Corporation (IDC) is offering bursaries for undergraduate studies for the 2026 academic year. Established in 1940, the IDC is a government-owned development finance institution in South Africa aimed at promoting economic growth, industrial development, and sustainable job creation. The bursary programme covers a range of fields, particularly in Commerce, Engineering, Law, and various sciences. Eligible applicants must be South African citizens, aged 26 or younger, financially in need, and enrolled in or planning to enroll full-time at recognized institutions in South Africa. The bursaries cover tuition, accommodation, meals, transport allowance, and include a once-off laptop. Applicants must provide documentation to prove their academic status, financial circumstances, and personal identity. The deadline for bursary applications is 30 September 2025, and interested individuals must apply on the IDC's dedicated portal.

Eligibility Requirements
- South African citizen
- Not older than 26 years old
- Currently in Matric or completed Matric
- Studying or intend on studying full-time towards a first undergraduate qualification
- Postgraduate funding only for Finance, Accounting and Law students
- Studying at a recognised public University, University of Technology or TVET College in South Africa
- Matric students must have achieved a minimum of 75% APS
- Tertiary students must have achieved a minimum of 65% APS
- Combined household income of not more than R600 000 per annum
- Excellent academic performance
- In financial need
- Unemployed
- Preference to students living with a disability
- Preference to students from Quintile 1, 2 and 3 schools from previously disadvantaged communities and rural areas

- Proof of acceptance or provisional admission at a tertiary institution (on institutions letterhead)
- Parents or guardians ID documents (certified copies – not older than 6 months)
- Unabridged birth certificate (certified copy)
- Parents or guardians proof of income (latest payslips if employed/ affidavit and 6 months Bank Statements if unemployed/ 3 months’ bank statement if self-employed/ SASSA Letter stating the grants received if applicable/ death certificate if deceased/ divorce certificate if divorced/ sworn statement if separated)
