Excel@Uni is offering a bursary program specifically for Persons With Disabilities (PWAs) for the 2025 academic year. The bursary is aimed at South African students pursuing any SAQA-approved qualification at the NQF level 7 or higher, which includes diplomas, degrees, and postgraduate studies. To be eligible, applicants must be under 35 years old, live with a disability, and be studying full-time at a recognized institution. The bursary encompasses full funding for tuition fees, textbooks, accommodation, and food, along with monthly allowances. In addition, recipients receive ongoing psycho-social support, mentorship, and access to a Work Readiness Programme, essential for their personal and professional growth. Private tutoring and an assistive stipend are included based on individual needs as well. Recipients are required to work back for each year of funding received as part of the bursary agreement. Key documents such as proof of disability, academic records, and household income details must be submitted to complete the application. Eligibility Requirements

  • Must be a South African citizen
  • Must be under 35 years of age
  • Must be living with a disability
  • Must be studying full-time towards an undergraduate or postgraduate qualification that is NQF level 7 or higher
  • Must be studying towards your current qualification level for the first time
  • Must be studying at a tertiary institution registered with DHET/CHE
  • Must be on track to finish your qualification in the minimum time required
  • Must be in need of funding for the 2025 academic year

Required Documents

  • ID document (certified copy)
  • Proof of Disability: Department of Labour Employment Equity Act (EEA1) Form AND a Diagnosis Letter from Doctor
  • Matric certificate (certified copy)
  • Latest/December 2024 Official Academic Transcripts (certified copy)
  • 2025 Official University Fee Statements
  • Full official tertiary academic record to date (on institutions letterhead)
  • Proof of tertiary registration for the current academic year (on institutions letterhead)
  • Parents or guardians ID document/non-SA Passport/death certificates (certified copy)
  • Parents or guardians proof of household income (latest payslips if employed/affidavit if unemployed/proof of pension or SASSA grant if applicable)
  • Students under 18 years old: a signed and completed consent form by parent/legal guardian and a certified copy of the parent/legal guardian ID document
  • Details of other bursaries/NSFAS received, if applicable: funding confirmation contracts, letters or offers
  • Police affidavit stating that you have never received NSFAS funding, if applicable
