Description
The eThekwini Municipality is pleased to announce its bursary programme for the 2025 academic year, targeting undergraduate students pursuing studies in Computer Science. The eThekwini Metropolitan Municipality, located in KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa, was established in 2000 and encompasses the city of Durban and its surrounding regions. Recognized for its vibrant tourist attractions, eThekwini has a population exceeding 3.5 million people. This bursary program provides significant financial support, covering essential expenses such as tuition fees, accommodation, examination fees, a book allowance, and a one-time computer allowance provided in the second year, contingent upon meeting the agreed-upon requirements. To qualify for this funding, applicants must be South African citizens, have completed their matriculation, and possess a strong academic record. They must be studying full-time for an undergraduate degree in Computer Science at an accredited South African university. The bursary is inclusive of applications from students with disabilities, representing a commitment to inclusivity. Those who have completed their first-year studies will receive preference, as will students who are underrepresented in various demographics within the academic and occupational fields relevant to the available posts. Interested candidates can access the application online, where they must also indicate how they learned about the bursary by entering 'www.zabursaries.co.za'. It is crucial to submit all required documents, including a certified ID copy, Matric certificate, academic records, and proof of university registration—failure to do so may result in disqualification. The submission deadline is set for April 17, 2025, and applicants should ensure they apply well ahead of this date. For further information, the eThekwini Municipal Academy can be contacted directly. The bursary aims to not only support students financially but also to ensure that a diverse range of individuals are empowered to pursue higher education in critical fields such as technology.
