Provided by:East London Industrial Development Zone (ELIDZ)
Description
The East London Industrial Development Zone (ELIDZ) offers a bursary program for the 2025 academic year aimed at supporting students from the Eastern Cape pursuing undergraduate studies in Mathematics, Science and Technology. The ELIDZ promotes financial assistance to encourage local matriculants to engage in fields that are critical for the province's development, ensuring the growth of professional resources. The bursary covers expenses up to R50,000, including registration, tuition, books, accommodation, and meals, but excludes paying off existing student debts. Recipients are required to engage in service work during holidays in exchange for financial support and adhere to a minimum academic performance standard to renew their bursary annually. Eligible candidates must be South African citizens aged between 16 and 25, currently residing within the Eastern Cape, having completed Matric with satisfactory results in relevant subjects, and show financial need. Required documents include sworn copies of identification, academic records, proof of university admission, financial documentation from guardians, and letters of motivation and testimonials. Applications can be submitted electronically or via post, but must be received before the stipulated deadline, with no late submissions accepted. This initiative fosters academic pursuit and provides vital resources for students aiming to contribute positively to their communities.
