Provided by:Department of Water and Sanitation (DWS)
Description
The Department of Water and Sanitation (DWS) is offering bursaries for the academic year 2026, focusing on fields within the water and sanitation sector, which is currently experiencing a shortage of skills in South Africa. The DWS, established in 1912, has a crucial role in managing the country's water resources and ensuring clean water access for all citizens. Their Learning Academy aims to support students in completing their tertiary education in relevant fields. This bursary programme covers a wide range of undergraduate and postgraduate studies, including various engineering disciplines and environmental sciences. Covering multiple expenses like registration and tuition fees, accommodation, and a monthly stipend, the DWS bursary evaluates applicants based on their academic performance, gender, and financial need, among other factors. Recipients will be required to work for DWS after graduation, reflecting the organization's investment in developing skilled professionals. Interested candidates must meet eligibility criteria, including being a South African citizen and maintaining a strong academic record, and those from underprivileged backgrounds are particularly encouraged to apply. Applications are accepted until 30 September 2025, and all required documents must be submitted to ensure consideration.
