Description
The Council for Geoscience (CGS) is offering a bursary for the 2025 academic year aimed at students pursuing studies in various geoscience fields including Computational Geosciences, Economic Geology, Engineering Geology, Environmental Geology among others. This bursary program is structured to financially support students while they pursue undergraduate and postgraduate qualifications, covering essential expenses such as registration fees, tuition fees, prescribed books, meals, accommodation, and even transport allowances. Notably, a one-time laptop allowance is provided to first-time recipients, enhancing their educational experience. The CGS expects students awarded the bursary to engage in vocational work during university holidays and may require them to work for the CGS after graduation as part of a work-back contract. Applicants must meet several eligibility criteria including being a South African citizen, having completed Matric, achieving a minimum level in relevant subjects, and being enrolled at a recognized institution. Applications can be submitted online or via email, but all submissions must include essential documentation such as certified copies of the ID, Matric certificate, and proof of university acceptance.
