Description
The Bheki Mlangeni Memorial Scholarship aims to honor the legacy of Bhekisizwe Godfrey Mlangeni while supporting Black students in their pursuit of legal education. Established in memory of Mlangeni, a graduate of Wits University and a victim of political violence, the scholarship invites final year LLB students from the University of Witwatersrand and the University of the Western Cape to apply for financial assistance. The objective is not only to bolster students' educational pursuits but also to remind future legal practitioners of their commitment to social justice and constitutional principles. As recipients of the scholarship, students may participate in vacation work at Cheadle Thompson & Haysom Inc., thus integrating practical experience with their academic endeavors. To qualify for the scholarship, applicants must demonstrate financial need, academic excellence in relevant fields of law, and a strong commitment to advancing social justice. A range of documentation, including certified academic records, reference letters, and a motivational letter, must be submitted to complete the application. The closing date for applications is set for February 28, 2025.
