Description
The Allan Gray Orbis Fellowship Bursary is aimed at supporting students in Southern Africa who demonstrate entrepreneurial potential. The Foundation, established in 2005, funds its activities from the profits of Allan Gray Limited, seeking to cultivate future business leaders through education and support programs. The fellowship is open for undergraduate studies in various fields including Arts, Commerce, Engineering, Health Science (excluding certain medical fields), Humanities, Law, and Science at multiple partner universities. The bursary offers financial support based on household income, with full funding for students from households earning less than R1 million annually. Further benefits include tuition, accommodation, meals, mentoring, access to entrepreneurial resources, and participation in an entrepreneurship conference. Selection involves a rigorous process with clear deadlines and feedback, and eligibility criteria include academic performance and citizenship status. Eligibility Requirements
- Must be a South African citizen
- Not older than 21 years old in 2025
- Currently in Matric in 2025
- Achieved a minimum of 60% for Mathematics OR a minimum of 80% for Mathematical Literacy in Grade 11 final results
- Achieved a minimum overall average of 70% for Grade 11 final results (excluding Life Orientation)
- Intend on studying towards a degree qualification within the listed fields in 2026
- Intend on studying at one of the partner universities
- Believe in the future of South Africa
- Have strong entrepreneurial flair and passion
